Without a mirror or some additional measuring, I can't be certain, but I suppose it's possible that there's a path to the wall at 0.6m which reflects toward the listening position. The width of the LF/mid panels are about 0.8m though, so hard to tell where the acoustic center is for a...
Well, the intent wasn't to characterize the speaker, only to demonstrate that the averaged MMM measurement showed the audible nulls. Here's a pair of full range sweeps at 1m without any EQ applied. I placed the mic as near to equidistant from the panels as possible (measured with a laser)...
I'm having some difficulties trying to figure out just what is causing a couple of room nulls in my listening area. Hopefully the attached .mdat contains the room simulation data as well as a sample of the RTA (using MMM) at a typical listening location; if not, I can attach a sketch of the...
You go into the "EQ Filters" screen and set the control to Auto and the type to PEQ; choose the center frequencies of your EQ and enter Q values of the individual bands (4.32 for 1/3 octave, 1.42 for octave, etc.). Then in the Filter Tasks panel, un-check "Allow narrow filters below 200 Hz" and...
OK, I got the FBQ2496 and set it up. Everything seemed to work OK - it sent the filters one at a time, lighting up the little LED indicators as it progressed. For some reason, it doesn't see the unit to retrieve data - probably something I've overlooked. But all the data went to the unit from...
I actually tried a DSP8024 that I had lying around, just for fun. It only has 3 PEQs per channel though, which isn't nearly enough. I'd rather have too many and not need them than have too few!
I have an opportunity to try one of these as a 20-band PEQ (not using the feedback destroyer options) and was curious if anyone else here has used one.
Seems like it would be a killer parametric, what with having 20 different frequencies and MIDI control to send the parameters back and forth...
Yes, I've done that at times; for accuracy, though, I still prefer running a MMM sweep around the listening position. For now, I just picked the most important bands and assigned them in fixed frequencies on the Generic and told it to match amplitudes; that worked well enough.
I have been using the AUNBandEQ quite successfully since the last update - thanks again, another donation sent!
I have a system which is not sourced from computer audio, and was thinking about re-purposing one of my fixed band EQs for it, since it's no longer needed on the main system. Is...
I've done quite a bit of amp testing using REW, my external interface, and special attenuators. The distortion measurements, both stepped and swept, are very useful and revealing. But I have a question regarding measurement of the noise floor of the device under test (DUT).
I typically run...
One day I was curious about how well the moving mic technique matched averaged swept measurements. I have used only MMM for the last year or two because it is so easy and quick to set up, but I wondered...
So what I did was take about a dozen separate swept measurements at the LP, and at...
I just bought a pair of HE4xx from Drop for nearly the same price - I wonder how similar they are? My HE4xx are quite good, though even better with Oratory1990's EQ settings. They're very comfortable but do require a little more power than most phones due to their impedance being ~32Ω.
I...
I know several people (functional adults) who have locked themselves in a bathroom by accident, so I would make sure there is either no lock or a double-sided one. :sarcastic:
Following this discussion, though, because my basement room is very similar to this one except that there is a...
