REW with Mac and Mr. Poes

Hi, I've had REW for a long time and have always had issues with it. I try to follow guides on YouTube etc. but they are often using windows. Is it just better to use Windows with this software? I am using a UMIK-1 MIniDsp mic. Also, I recently watched the video on AV NIRVANA with Mr. Poes...
