Bought an older Harmony 890 remote off of EBay

The issue was that the software for the 1100 had no dicumented mechanism for adding things manually that I recall - I believe that it was a different package than the 890 as such, being full touch screen.

Bought an older Harmony 890 remote off of EBay

Good for you! All that means is that your system is likely a lot simpler with a lot less dependencies than mine was at the time (and the problem was in power *up*, not power down. The sequence was something like: Power on projector Power on audio rack Power on surround processor Power on...

Bought an older Harmony 890 remote off of EBay

As I said, it's been a while, so I'm not 100% . . . I just know that no matter what I did, it kept losing sync with the system, so was replaced with a far more versatile product (URC). That, and my wife kept killing screens (replaced it 2 or 3x iirc).

Bought an older Harmony 890 remote off of EBay

Some devices will not respond to commands until after they finish coming up, and with the Harmony, it was near impossible to get it to wait and not just throw commands into a deaf device, leaving the system in an unknown/incorrect state.(As I recall, input select on my projector was a big one...

Bought an older Harmony 890 remote off of EBay

I had one of those, an I had one of those, and it absooutely would not work well with my Dish network Joeys . . . intermittent, stuttery, excess or missed commands sent (while everything else worked) and support just stuck thier head in the sand . . . . that, and the incredibly non-flexible...

How to resolve two different equipment measurement results.

I would rerun the test using the same mic for both, and without moving it. Sure, cal may not be there, but typically (at least with a good mic) those factors are not drastic, and I would expect to see the same thing. It's possible that the mic was just in a null, directional, or some other...

What Does Hi Resolution Audio Mean?

I have both, but again, you seem to be missing the key point. Sure, CD to DVD to BluRay, etc. have been improvements, but they don't carry the latest "Make everything HD!" naming hype (There are even sunglasses sold as "HD") . . . Dynamic range, freq response, etc. are all just functions of...

What Does Hi Resolution Audio Mean?

If it's beyond the resolution of human hearing, it's marketing spew, nothing more . . .

What Does Hi Resolution Audio Mean?

And some would say that it means that the marketing doofs had too much free time on thier hards . . . . :-)

How often do you upgrade your TV?

I first thought that this was asking about firmware, and that response would be "whenever a new release comes out" As far as replacement, that would be "When it dies, degrades, or I see a huge enough difference old to new to call to me". I am not one of those lemmings who always charges to the...

What new feature has inspired you to change your equipment to the latest & greatest?

Nope. More typically, a lot of the nonsense features, incomprehensible UI, and lack of serviceability has *prevented* me from considering a lot of newer stuff.

McIntosh and Sonus faber Purchased by... Bose? Yup, Bose Corporation Has Made a BIG Move

Why does it always seem that the complete and total turds end up buying (and typically destroying) ledgendary brands? Yeah, Bose is in trouble . . . . Not selling complete garbage might be the solution to that . . . not dragging others under with them!

    All time favorite Movie Thread

Hmm . . . Tough call. Not judging by audio, just overall favorites (based mostly on what I rewatch): 2001 A Space Odyssey Blazing Saddles The Wall (odd, but a masterpiece of animation) Office Space Forbidden Planet Apollo 13 Some kind of wonderful (Many others that don't come to mind at the...

REW install on Linux or windows ?

I have some of the same, so have a Win* VM inside Linux with Qemu - boots faster than native, and less likely to do damage if something gets into it. USB devices pass through transparently when I need a USB device based programming tool for my GPS gear, PROM programmers, etc. Best of hoth...

REW install on Linux or windows ?

If you install on Linux, your platform won't blow chunks :-). Seriously, audio config on Linux is pretty easy (and it doesn't fight back like Win), so pick what you prefer to use.
