Hundreds of your Warner Bros DVDs probably don’t work anymore

I think that's a market that simply knows their audience. They know the 95% of the audience who hasn't invested like we have in their theater/av equipment will never know the difference on their soundbars, and the 5% of us who HAVE made the investment will maybe stream it right away but will...

Hundreds of your Warner Bros DVDs probably don’t work anymore

I just saw last night that WB has pledged to replace any affected discs at no charge, so that's pretty cool of them. Probably have extra pennies to burn from that $45 Barbie download.

    Home Assistant

Something isn't right, then. I've been using it for over a year and have only had one update break anything, and it took me 4 or 5 clicks and a 10 minute wait to get a backup restored which has worked flawlessly ever since.

    Home Assistant

I finally got around to recording this step-by-step walkthrough of configuring Home Assistant automations with Kaleidescape triggers. Which also works on AppleTV, Roku and more.

    Wisdom Audio

Hard to say. If you can do the Wisdom Line Source, I'd absolutely go that route every time. If you're talking Point Source, I don't know if I'd weigh in on that, since I haven't heard the Wisdom Point Source speakers to compare with Grimani. But in these price ranges, if you're looking at Point...

    Wisdom Audio

Very high quality stuff. Worked with Seymour building a screen for their demo room at CEDIA several years back and when we got the demo before taking the screen back down, it was by far the best sounding room I'd heard at the entire show.

I was merely pointing out that Kaleidescape has never been positioned in the market as being a cost-effective solution. I'm not arguing that anything you've said is incorrect, but essentially it's like saying "the Jeep Wrangler is likely a much more effective solution for those who need a fun...

Kaleidescape has never been about being cost effective. It’s about being plug and play. One click, download, watch. Not everyone wants the hassle of finding discs, ordering discs, ripping discs, storing discs, maintaining server, troubleshooting apps and client devices.

    Oscars 2025

I'm not a fan of awards shows in general, but I do like to try and watch as many of the Best Picture nominees as I can and other buzzworthwy titles. I'd seen Nosferatu, The Brutalist, Anora, Conclave, Better Man, Gladiator 2, Alien: Romulus, Inside Out 2, September 5, The Apprentice, and Dune...

Stinks, but also a hefty dose of reality for those who have railed against Kaleidescape and streaming because "DiSkS R FuReVrR" and "WuT aBoUt If ThEy Go OuT oF BiZnEsS."

    Streaming - Rare Films

Nope, not quite. PLEX and Emby are file management systems that create a Kaleidescape-esque user interface via an app that connects to your server, or a computer on your network. It is up to you to add the content, generally via ripping your disc library. rarefilmm.com is a website that...

    Streaming - Rare Films

Plex or Emby are just the playback and server organization software. They’re not necessary but give you a nice app-based navigation and easy to watch in your theater. The files themselves aren’t just automatically in the apps though, you have to seek out online through the website and Bluesky...
