You can shrink that when you're done editing and have exported, get the FCPx project file down to a small file that references the original footage but doesn't contain a bunch of render and proxy files.

I don’t save everything but try to maintain an archive. Short film projects I save everything. Concert films I save everything. Product reviews I save the b-roll. I’m also shooting in Blackmagic Raw at 6K so the files are relatively massive.

Don't even get me started on hard drives. A live look at my desk's current situation, I have about 110TB here sitting on my desk, trying to choose a NAS with 10Gbps connection so I can get rid of all of this and put it in a closet and still be able to edit off of it without moving stuff around.

Real-World Review: The Sofabaton X1S Smart Remote

I've never liked Harmony remotes. Never had a lot of success programming them. It always ended with me emailing support, them working some invisible voodoo in my activities, and then it magically worked even though I saw no change in what was happening. I like the idea of Harmony remotes, but I...

Real-World Review: The Sofabaton X1S Smart Remote

Not exactly. I said the Harmony has the largest, most complete database of devices ready to add without having to learn a remote or track down codes to import. Programming sequences and macros is actually easier on my Unfolded Circle remote, it just takes more effort to get all your devices...

What's your favorite Val Kilmer film?

From what I understand, he sang all the performances live, yes. But in post-production they split. Wide shots were the original Jim Morrison vocal, closeups were Val's vocal. Which is even more impressive, if you ask me, that they could seamlessly cut between the two without it being obvious. I...

What's your favorite Val Kilmer film?

He literally became Morrison. Perfect in the role, plus the supporting cast is phenomenal - Meg Ryan, Kyle McLachlan, Kevin Dillon, Frank Whaley, Michael Wincott. Even brought in Billy Idol and John Densmore.

What's your favorite Val Kilmer film?

I'm going against it here and picking The Doors. Also, Wonderland is criminally under-appreciated.

CEDIA Surprise: Lumagen Unleashes New ArtisaN 8K Video Processor

All the more reason to release this in 2025 with 40Gbps ports for the vast majority of the user base, and then follow-up in 2027 with an affordable upgrade path that matches console performance for the small fraction of users who would want/need that level of performance. Who knows what will...

    Home Assistant

I don't have the controller yet. The shop has been too busy fulfilling screen orders to finish polishing the controller dev, so I'm still just using the RF remote. Patiently waiting. :) It will, when available, have direct stops for each ratio, in fact I believe it will be capable of an...

CEDIA Surprise: Lumagen Unleashes New ArtisaN 8K Video Processor

It's true that for the most intensive gaming, there's not a video processor on the market that can keep up. But in terms of lag, there are plenty of folks out there using the current lineup of Lumagen video processors while gaming with minimal lag, especially when compared with other VPs on the...
