i need some advice an help

iv got an issue which im not some of that i should worry that

one amps fan is randomly spinning up at idle an i can hear it ?

__________________________________________

my Crown xls 1002 that's in monoblock mode (bi-amped) recently started a

weird fan noise , weird is that i can hear it from the middle of the room

_______________________

now note a few things

_______________________

1 . thers no coil whine just a noticeable whoosh ?

2. when i check the system temps ther avg is 42c while ht volume is low -50 ref

_________________________________________________________

normally the daily use since the day bought an installed my amps currently

4 years ago to date ( with daily avg use 10hs at -30db ) ther been no idle fan noise

______________________________________________________________

my current setup an config is

1x xls 1002 (for my center) gain knobs at 3:30 o'clock (receiver sig output -4.5db )

1x xls 1502 (for my fronts) gain knobs at 2:30 o'clock (receiver sig output -7.5db )

1x xls 2502 (for my subs) gain knobs at 2 o'clock (receiver sig output -6 & -12db trim)

___________________________________________________________________________________

all my connection are xlr to xlr an all 3 the fronts are 98db efficient speakers

the sub drivers are 90db efficient

__________________________________

till now iv never heard the fans spin up at idle use , they probability have under use at

-20 to -15 ref volume not that i could notice

should i be worried the one is randomly spinning up at idle an i can hear it ?

_______________________________________________

side question

an on i modding note could i replace all the amps fans with some noctus's an using a power adapter run them at all time for constant air flow , the would cool better an still be near silent ?

Weird. Have you recently moved the amps or placed them in a new rack/cabinet? Perhaps the venting has been blocked?

Have you opened up the amp to look at fan?

If you are just now hearing it after four years, my guess would be either a bad fan bearing or a bad heat sensor causing it to cut on before it should. Crown might be able to give you more details about it. I would contact them first. If they are no help, then I would consider replacing the fan with the quiet Noctua fan that you won't be able to hear. It's what I installed in my Behringer amps.

Here is a video taking one apart:

thanks for that , question could just disconnect the fan altogether an mount a 80mm-to-120mm-fan-adapter on the outside an attach a 120mm 2000rpm fan i have with a external power adapter i also have

i used to use both to cool a pfsense router

it was near inaudible at five feet an , i could let run continuously for the amp with some custom cut pc filter mesh over the front intake to collect an keep out dust

would ther be any issue to disconnecting the amp fan an using external cooling ?

Boy, that's a tough one. My first concern would be achieving proper airflow. If I'm not mistaken, the fan blows out? Is that correct?

I'd contact Crown first (as Sonnie suggests). See what they say. If that is fruitless, open the unit up, see what fan size is internal and replace it with a quiet fan.

thet do i think ther meant as exhaust the the vents in front as passive intake

the stated cfm of the originals iv heard is supposed around 50cfm's while the

nf-f12-industrialppc-24v-2000-sp-ip67-pwm is around 80cfm with Static pressure 3,94 mm H₂O id probable go with a

nf-a14-industrialppc-24v-3000-sp-ip67-pwm with for its 155cfm's an 80mm to 140mm adapter like this tho the 120mm to 80mm ver is only instock at the moment tho the 140 might be overkill

either moves a lot of air
