I've watched the replay and read the comments. From what I have seen, he was clearly safe. However, the comments from some of the Mets fans say that the New York cameras grabbed it from another angle and his hand never actually touched the plate. He left it in the air above it instead of getting it down on the ground. They (the Mets fans) were the ones saying he was out and the call was correct.
