So last night I went to do some measurements and for some reason REW was showing that my input was about 20 DB hotter than what my SPL meter was saying. this was both in the calibration screen and check level of the measurement screen. I double checked all of my connections and settings in my audio interface and could not find an issue that would be causing this. I closed and reopened it. I rebooted my computer. I uninstalled my soind card and reinstalled it again. But the problem persisted. So I finally uninstalled REW, deleted all preferences, and reinstalled. Problem solved. It didn’t do it again. This is not the first time I’ve seen this happen. any ideas? I’m running it on a Mac computer with Universal audio Apollo audio interface.

It sounds like either a gain was changed along the audio input path somewhere or the REW SPL calibration offset was changed. You can check the calibration data values on the Cal files preferences, by clicking the gear icon next to the current audio input.

Usual ways would be running SPL calibration or editing the Full scale SPL or dBFS at 94 dB SPL figures from the Cal files preferences. You can see the offset figures for existing measurements on the Info panel ("Data offset"). If the data offset is the same for older measurements and fora measurements that was showing higher levels then that would suggest the issue was a gain along the input path somewhere.
