(January 15, 2025) Ascendo has introduced its AIA2-10K2 IS amplifier, a solution designed to tackle a challenge in home theater audio: delivering consistent and powerful performance at extremely low frequencies. The demands of modern home theater setups, with their focus on immersive soundscapes and dynamic bass effects, often expose the limitations of traditional amplifiers. Whether in home theaters or commercial applications, many amplifiers struggle to sustain output in the sub-20Hz range, a critical area for delivering the full impact of low-frequency effects.

Traditional amps, especially those designed for public address systems, are often optimized for short-term power bursts. These designs prioritize portability and efficiency, delivering peak performance in quick, 20 to 40 millisecond bursts and rarely focusing on frequencies below 35Hz. While this approach is effective for concerts and live events, it falls short in home theaters, where consistent and sustained power is essential. Even home theater amplifiers, while better suited for lower frequencies, frequently rely on lightweight power supplies and lack the ability to maintain voltage stability under prolonged heavy loads. This results in a loss of clarity, impact, and depth in bass reproduction, detracting from the overall experience.

To address these issues, Ascendo developed the AIA2-10K2 IS amplifier, engineered to deliver continuous, stable power across all frequencies, including those as low as 3Hz. This amplifier’s fully balanced design ensures consistent performance under demanding conditions, eliminating voltage sag and maintaining output even during extended playback. The higher damping factor improves bass control, enhancing extension and clarity while delivering the kind of detailed and impactful low-frequency performance that is crucial for home theater enthusiasts.

The amplifier’s design reflects a commitment to reliability and functionality. Its robust construction and advanced cooling system allow it to perform consistently during extended use, ensuring it can handle the rigors of high-output, bass-heavy content without faltering. While specific dimensions and weight have not been disclosed, the AIA2-10K2 IS is billed as built to meet the needs of serious home theater installations.

The AIA2-10K2 IS amplifier will make its debut at ISE, where more information about its specifications and capabilities is expected to be revealed.

I'm not a fan of rack mount, but I suspect it will work for some. It has some cool factor to it for me. I am curious to see the specs and pricing... not that I need a sub amp... just curious.

I hope that the reliability and warranty and service of this new amplifier will be better than that of the SMSG18 subwoofer.

Have you had a bad experience with warranty and service?

Absolutely yes, I will never buy and will not recommend anyone to purchase a product of this company, even though in terms of performance they are at the top.

What was the issue?

What was the issue?
The first issue was the Amp

The second was the Ethernet module

The 2 issues occurred during 3 years of warranty (The sub cost about 13000$ and I have 2 of them)

The first issue was solved by the company and they sent new Amp
(At first they wanted to demand payment for the shipment but in the end they agreed to pay for it )

The second issue was never solved and the attitude of the company in order to solve it was terrible (They had to replace the Amp again or to Fix the Ethernet module and of course they didn't like it then they started telling me stories that the warranty is non-transferable. I purchased the subs second hand after they had been in use for about a month. ) so I decided to stay with the Ethernet problem and use USB cable when required instead of Ethernet cable.

I don't expect a sub that costs $13,000 to break down twice during the 3-years warranty, and I certainly don't expect such a low level of service from a company that suppose to stands behind the product it sells as high-end with a price accordingly

I expect a company that stands behind its products to apologize for the heartache they caused me as a customer and immediately send a new amplifier or offer me to send them the amplifier ,at their expense, for repair especially since this is the second time during the warranty period that this sub has failed

I have two of their Ascendo DSP4-10K2 amps [rack mount] for about 2 years. Never a hick up. My guess about this new amp pricing would be that it will be expensive, just like the ones I have [but you get what you pay for]. I, too, will be anxious to hear more about what they offer vs what I already have. And my preference is rack mount amps for all my speakers. Trying to get access to the rear of my subs, for example, is a pain in the rear!

Sorry about your poor customer support situation. And a bit surprised. That the product had failures I don't see as catastrophic - but certainly annoying [stuff breaks] , but the support response you said you received seems a bit odd from what I know about the company.

I was also surprised, but that's what I experienced, so as I have already mentioned, I will never recommend purchasing their product despite the good performance

All subwoofer companies need to consider the SVSound model for customer service and warranty, and their business will grow as a result. I can almost guarantee you'll never ever find a thread like this about SVS, PSA, JTR, and a few others.

I also have 2 SVS pb/pc 13 ultra subs total of 4 subs.
You're right regarding the SVS service and warranty👍

I am using (4) SVS SB16 Subs and have never had any issues but when I have had questions and contacted them they were always helpful and patient.

I have a pair of SVS PB12/Ultra-2's that are literally 20 years old. Never a hiccup, and still in daily use. (And over 100dB at 16Hz in my HT.) When I asked SVS about the likelihood of pre-emptive replacement of the amps, (while they still work as new) they immediately had a suggestion for the amps from the 4000 series. Didn't try to upsell me, just wanted to help me with my request. Seems like I paid less than $1k for them back then. Just cannot beat their customer service.

I have four SVS SB16s... two of them had amp failures. SVS was great and replaced both. Customer service was (and is) at the tippy top. Super nice folks.

There could be an equipment failure no matter what brand you buy – it's the nature of electronics. My experience with SVS has been stellar, and I will always recommend them.

As for @yoav's experience with Ascendo (or an Ascendo dealer), it stinks that you weren't satisfied. When it comes to Ascendo, I can only speak to my personal experience and interactions with them in both public-facing and behind-the-scenes ways, and it also has been exceedingly positive. They are insanely knowledgeable and passionate folks, and their professionalism, when no one is looking, has always impressed me. That's not to diminish Yoav's experience, just relaying what I've experienced over the last several years.

Their knowledge is certainly impressive but the service and standing behind the products they sell and considering the prices they charge, at least from my experience, is simply horrible and disrespectful

My guess is that RAM Audio is building this or it's a clone of 1 of their 10k amplifiers. They have several different models available in this and other power levels. I've personally had the 20k on my list.
