I Recently started organizing my Movie Collection, as it was a bit disorganized.
Shocking how large it seems to have grown.

33 DVD’s
375 Blurays
306 4K Blurays

Let’s just say it’s enough to watch one a day for the next two years. 😂

Hmmm... I've never counted mine. It does need organizing, though. I think I have a few hundred altogether... probably between 3-400. I sold off or gave away several hundred regular DVDs years ago.

Is there a program where you can scan the barcode on the case, and it organizes them for you in the program? I guess I need to search, huh? lol ... If there were something like this, I could organize them in the program, then I'd know how to organize them in my cabinet.

Edit: found this one: https://clz.com/movies/dvd-organizer ... It has a mobile app that can scan the case, then you can integrate it with the web version. Uses IMDB for info. 50 bucks annually. I might prefer one that I can buy one time and be done with it.

How about a pic?

Here's one cabinet built into the wall, with GIK acoustic panels as doors. There's more in the other cabinet on the right, but probably only one row.

I need to look at this picture more closely... I'm assuming you have multiple copies of Gili and Jersey Girl?

I have around 1200 movies on disc and, probably, another 500 on Kaleidescape. Not sure what the breakdown is on HD vs 4K, but I'd imagine it's 70/30 Blu-ray vs 4K.

What I do know is that I own *maybe* 3 DVDs. Most of my original DVDs have been replaced/cycled out.

Never heard of either, so if those are in there, someone else has been adding to my collection. :sarcastic:

That's a lot of movies, especially on K-scape... no way I'd ever have time to watch that many movies, but I'm somewhat picky these days.

I have a long watch list of things I own but have yet to watch. My excuse is sports… Major League Baseball followed by NFL and NHL. That keeps a guy busy!

We have over 600 movies on Blu-ray, 4K, and HD DVD, but only about 20% are 4K.

Then there's another collection of Laserdisc, VHS, and DVD, but I don't have any count on those. Most have been replaced when rereleased, but not all of them have been.

We try to watch about 100 movies per year, mostly through library rentals, and we'll eventually add 10-20% of those to our collection.

I had hundreds in dvds but transferred to hard drives long time ago and donated or gave away or trashed all the physical media. It is much easier for me to get it from the hard drive than searching for it from stacks of physical dvds.

According to the My Movies app, I am at 271 DVDs, 228 Blu-rays, and 271 4K UHDs. I do have 1 HD DVD and I think 6 Laserdiscs?

I think I'll be sad the day I upgrade to Kaleidescape because I like collecting.

Not big enough!
roughly 260 Blu-ray plus 95 4K UHD discs. I also gave my nephew over 150 DVDs that I'll probably reclaim at some point since he is not doing anything with them. I was able to use UltraViolet when it was around to upload digital copies to VUDU and merged a few libraries, so on VUDU (now Fandango At Home) I have around 514 titles.

Sadly, Best Buy got rid of their disc section, and the other outlets such as Target and Walmart have but a smattering of movies. This forces me to either have to order them online which I rarely do or purchase the digital copy on Fandango At Home. Neither option is exciting. I miss the days of being able to walk the multiple isles at Best Buy looking for gems that had been discounted, making them an even Better Buy!

Yeah... there's not much we can find streaming nowadays. There's just not much in the physical stores any longer.

The whole business of AV entertainment seems to be a thing of the past for many out there. Soundbars and streaming are as close to AV as many new buyers get. The new generation of kids are fine with the audio and video they get from their phone! Best buy is dismantling the Magnolia section in most of their stores, and what is currently there has not been given any attention to detail.

Wait. Best Buy is getting rid of Magnolia in some stores? That is terrible news. Granted, I don't think I've bought anything from them since 2015, but still that sucks!
