Hi,
I'm trying to understand what the intended rules are as to when the result of a Trace Arithmetic operation still includes either mic or soundcard cal data.
The behavior I'm seeing is, as expected, is that whatever cal data is present will be used for the math operation. "A" and "B" might have different mic cal and soundcard cal, and both are used during the calculation. The result, however, seems to inherit, for example during a division operation, the cal data from "A". That is, the unique Trace Arithmetic result seems to depend on the "A" cal data in the measurement result being present. For example, if I select the resulting measurement and choose "Change cal", then remove one of the calibrations (either mic or soundcard), the result will change. So that cal file needs to be left alone assuming the measurement result was as intended.
It seems to be the same behavior with a vector average, when launched by right-clicking in the "All SPL" tab. For a two-measurement vector average, if there is different info. for "A" and "B" as regards calibration, the result will show as having inherited cal file data from "A". Again, if I would remove that cal file data, the result would change.
The results all seem well, I'm just making sure that I understand the intended behavior.
Inheriting the cal data for operations is of course quite useful when it is the same calibration data (same mic, same interface). In a linear operation, the cal files can be conveniently swapped out in the resulting measurement (if an improvement in calibration had been achieved) without having to reprocess the math again.
Thanks.
