Description
Like many, I change components very often but speakers are fairly stable. From 2001 to 2015 their were Salon1s, Voice1, and Studio2. In 2015, my dealer had a great deal on Ultima2s so I upgraded to Salon2s, Voice2, and Studio2s.
Last year, I replaced my Studio2s with Salon2s because the height would be better for rears. There is a benefit to matching rears but mostly wanted extra pair of Salon2s since they are being discontinued. I also bought an extra tweeter just in case parts become unavailable.
A projector is not permitted, so I continually upgrade my display. The LG 77 OLED will soon be replaced by the LG 83. I can't justify the Sony premium and, my MO is a display upgrade every 2 to 3 years.
The biggest challenge was the center channel. The credenza was custom made to match the décor and the depth is not an issue since the Salon2s stick out. So, the center must go above the screen to keep it close to eye level. The OmniMount (now disconintued) is quite strong so with a bit of hardware-store ingenuity and surgery to the Voice2 base allowed for mounting. I really wish Revel would consider providing mounting hardware or at the very least mechanical drawings.
I was considering JL Fathom 13" subs but ended up with two custom Salk customer Rythmik E22 (dual 12") subwoofers that are gloss black with mahogany sides to match the Salon2s. These measure down to 13 Hz in my room.
The room itself is very quiet, 27 dB, but I may have to revisit this because I don't remember if I used the UMIK-1 with cal file from spectrum (with reference level) or the Umm6.
The spectrum of the noise is interesting. The noise is lowest in the 1 kHz up to 7 kHz where our hearing is most sensitive.
That's all folks
