It is November now so that means the holidays are just around the corner.

In the U.S., the unofficial shopping for the Christmas/Winter holiday starts on Black Friday (the Friday, right after Thanksgiving) which is Nov 24th this year..

Let's post deals as we find them here for folks.

:)

Amazon also launched their black Friday sales early..

Costco has some good deals but the specific Model numbers are missing which makes it hard.

As a heads up to those who don’t know already, manufacturers play games with model numbers this time of year. You should look carefully at the deal and the model. Some companies produce stripped down versions of year or two old TVs at a lower price. That doesn’t mean you can’t get a good deal, but you may not be getting what you think you are getting.

I won’t name names, to be fair, but I ended up with a tv renowned for its black levels at an affordable price only to find out the version sold on Black Friday had an IPS display, rather than the VA display the others had. I also ended up with one that had no local dimming even though the others had local dimming. The tv didn’t have a model number in the ad and it’s features matched that of a known well regarded model for a bit less money.

I also have ended up with good deals once I figured out the game. Last year I bought a Samsung tv that turned out to be a special made for Black Friday model. It had a nicer looking stand and frame, faster processor, a VA (instead of IPS) panel, but less high end features (no local or edge dimming). It turned out to be a great 4K tv for the bedroom.

That is a good point to remember. Thanks for letting folks know.

Just because it is "cheap" doesn't mean it is the best. lol. :)

Just wanted to remind folks, Amazon is great at matching prices.

A few years back, I wanted a 4TB external hard drive and it was on sale for $99 at best buy and other retailers but they were sold out. On amazon, they were $40 more but was not sold out.
I sent a mail to Amazon and provided the link to best buy advertisement of the item and even thou it was sold out, amazon matched the price and I was able to buy it for $99.

Within a minute of me sending the mail to Amazon, Amazon replied stating they are competitive and will take a look. Within another minute or two from that initial email, I got another email, for me to click on a link and they would reduce the price and once I clicked on the link, it showed up as $99 so I went ahead and bought it.

I was curious so after I bought it and came back to the website 5 minutes later, it was back to the regular price..

So, they were waiting for me to purchase it and then once done, they put it back..

So, do your comparison shopping.

Best of luck.

Looks like plenty of folks went shopping Thanksgiving/Black Friday. It was a great success for retailers.

from yahoo,

"With Thanksgiving hitting a record $2.87 billion in online sales in the U.S., Black Friday easily surpassed that figure before the day was even done. Figures from Adobe -- which analyses 80 percent of online transactions to the 100 largest web retailers in the country to come up with its numbers -- note that total sales as of 5pm Pacific time were $3.54 billion, up 15.6 percent year-on-year. Adobe estimates the whole day will reach $5 billion."
