(September 2, 2022) Bluesound recently announced a new single-zone, wireless music streaming amplifier called Powernode Edge. It's an all-in-one device that combines streaming sources, control, and amplification in a small, room-friendly package. And priced at $649 US, it's easy on the wallet, too.
Harnessing the power of a 2x40 Watt (8 ohms) DirectDigital amplifier, the Powernode Edge can drive two passive speakers with the option of adding a PULSE SUB+ wireless subwoofer for a powerful but compact 2.1 stereo system. Alternatively, it can be tasked with powering the rear channels of a Bluesound wireless surround sound media setup.
Endowed with a Quad-Core 1.8GHz ARM Cortex A53 Processor, the Powernode Edge supports 24-bit/192kHz and MQA Hi-Res playback. This gives enthusiasts the ability to enjoy studio masters of favorite albums and elite levels of detail within music and media alike. It features direct access to 20 natively integrated music services and thousands of Internet Radio stations, and can be controlled by the BluOS Controller app. Dual-Band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet allow for playback from a personal music library, while AirPlay2 and aptX HD Bluetooth add a layer of streaming convenience familiar to nearly anyone. More traditional wired sources, such as a TV or pre-amplified turntable, can be connected using the HDMI eARC input or combo analog/digital input.
The Powernode Edge's small form factor lets the device seamlessly integrate with any room, boosted by an included multi-orientation wall bracket for mounting in a closet or behind a sofa. Additionally, its 1U rack height and half-rack width make it easy to stack and rack for custom installations.
Bluesound players can be linked around the home to create a high-performance, multi-room system using BluOS, a versatile whole-home, Hi-Res audio platform. Owners can send music from player to player or sync up multiple players to one stream for parties and gatherings. Easy control is always readily available via the BluOS Controller (iOS, Android, Mac, or PC), or by using the device's elegant glass touch panel for quick access to controls like Play, Pause, and Volume Up/Down. The Powernode Edge can integrate with the most popular smart home controllers like Crestron, Control4, URC, RTI, ELAN, and others, while hands-free control is possible with voice assistants like Apple’s Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.
Pre-orders are being taken now, with shipping expected to begin during early October. For more information or to place an order, visit www.bluesound.com.
