(October 7, 2020) Lenbrook, the owner of NAD Electronics, PSB Speakers, and Bluesound, has launched a new high-end wireless audio system by DALI called OBERON C. Based on its collection of OBERON passive speakers, the OBERON C Series stands as DALI's most affordable smart speaker system to date.
DALI's Sound Hub Compact is the system's anchor, conducting wireless traffic at resolutions up to 24-bit/96kHz. The hub is compact enough to hide out of sight and can easily be controlled using the included Bluetooth remote. The backside of the unit carries optical, RCA, and HDMI inputs for physical connectivity. At the same time, onboard Bluetooth accommodates both AAC and aptX for high-quality streaming from preferred devices and computers, even Bluetooth-equipped TVs.
The Sound Hub Compact has a physical subwoofer output for those looking to add low-end beef to a listening room. Additionally, an expansion slot can receive the NPM-1 BluOS module, which unlocks 24-bit/192KHz streaming of FLAC, WAV, and MQA files from stored music and services like TIDAL and Qobuz.
OBERON C's speaker offerings include the floor standing 7 C ($2,499/pair), the compact bookshelf 1 C ($1,499/pair), and the wall-mount ON-WALL C ($899 each). Each model shares the same drivers and cabinets found on the OBERON series, but carry a wireless streaming interface, onboard DSP, and dual 50-watt Class D amplifiers. Amp duties are divided, with one feeding a speaker's bass and mid-bass wood fiber drivers, while the other is married to a single soft-dome tweeter.
The OBERON C series is available in four attractive laminate finishes: Matt White, Light Oak, Dark Walnut, and Black Ash. Shipping will begin in November 2020.
