(December 17, 2020) Not everyone wants a massive sound bar solution crowding a mantle or tabletop. Sometimes aesthetics and overall footprint are nearly as important – or more important – than how well a product performs. Definitive Technology, however, doesn’t believe picky buyers should have to sacrifice one way or the other. In fact, its latest release is designed to deliver on both fronts.
Launching in January, the all-new Studio 3D Mini Sound Bar ($899) features an ultra-compact form factor (2” H x 26” W), 4.1 channels of output, Dolby ATMOS and DTS:X signal processing, and much more. Its small size, says Michael McCole (senior product marketing manager at Sound United), allows the Studio 3D Mini to “disappear beneath the television,” providing owners with generous placement flexibility. Meanwhile, the bar’s six-driver array with aluminum tweeters and an 8” compact wireless sub module allows for an audio experience filled with mid- to high-range detail and low-frequency punch.
“Like all Definitive Technology products, the Studio Series sound bars are well known for their huge, dynamic sound and modern design. The Studio 3D Mini delivers the same massive cinematic listening experience as its predecessors while giving users more flexibility in terms of placement due to its small size,” said McCole.
The Studio 3D Mini is eARC capable, providing access to both Atmos and DTS:X immersive sound via a single HDMI port. That connection is also compatible with 4K video and both Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats. Other inputs include optical, AUX, and USB ports for access to external music and audio media. On the streaming front, the inclusion of HEOS Built-in and AirPlay2 delivers connectivity with prefered devices and other HEOS/AirPlay 2 enabled products. Bluetooth connectivity is also included.
