Dish Network Hopper 3 is compatible with Alexa. If you have a Echo Dot v2 or Amazon Echo you can pair it with your Alexa app. for voice control. The key is that the dish device must be setup on your network.
Alexa Hopper Integration
With Amazon Alexa integration, you can now control functions on your Hopper receiver or Wally without having to pick up the remote. Follow the steps below to set up Alexa and begin using voice commands.

Let's get started: Select your remote
Please select your remote to view remote-specific support steps.

Wally, Hopper 3, Hopper with Sling, or Hopper with our new user interface. Call 1-800-333-DISH to upgrade your receiver today.

40.0 Remote
  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone and press the menu icon in the top left corner. From here, select "Music, Video, & Books."

  2. Select DISH

  3. Select ENABLE SKILL at the bottom of the screen

  4. Press the MENU button on your DISH remote.

    Note: The following steps must be done on a Hopper or Wally. If you have a Wired Joey, Wireless Joey, 4K Joey, or Super Joey, go to the room with the Hopper or Wally before continuing.

  5. Select Settings

  6. Select Amazon Alexa

  7. Select Get Code

  8. Enter the code shown on the screen into the Alexa app when prompted, then select Activate

  9. Select Done on the receiver, and click Continue in the Alexa App

  10. Select Done in the Alexa App

  11. Wait for Alexa to discover the DISH receiver. Select your Hopper or Wally receiver from the list and click Continue.

  12. Select the Amazon Alexa device you would like linked to this receiver and click Link Devices.

    Your Hopper/Wally and Alexa-enabled device are now paired, and you can use voice commands to control your DISH viewing experience.

That's pretty neat. We were supposed to get an Echo when we got Dish Network, but haven't seen it yet.
