Hello,
I am running REW v5.20.13 on Mac OS Ventura 13.0.
I exported correction inversion files with "Export impulse response as wav" but I cannot find the .wav files anywhere.
Can someone help me figure out what I am missing?
Thank you,
Philippe

When you open the file dialog to save something it shows you the current folder for that type of file, which is either the place you last saved something of that type or the default, which on a mac is probably your home folder.

John,

Thank you. I scanned my whole drive for .wav, and can't see any such file. I also checked in open file dialog directory, which is where I save all my REW files, and there are no .wav files there.

What is remarkable, is that when I perform the "export impulse response as wav", select the various options, tick boxes, and sample rates, and then press the "OK" button, I am NOT presented with a dialog to name the files and save them to a specific directory.

This does not seem normal to me either.

Philippe

If you don't get a file dialog there was no export. Please attach the contents of the REW log files folder, excluding the temp sub-folder. The location is shown in the About REW dialog.

Thank you. Attached.

There don't seem to be any errors logged from the V5.20.13 start-ups. Worth checking that REW has permissions to access the relevant folders, including your home folder. The OS may be silently refusing to allow the file dialog if it doesn't like where REW is trying to open it.

How do I check that? I am able to save .mdat files...

I checked and REW has access to my "Documents" folder, where I store all my REW working files. See attached..

If you provide an mdat with the responses you are trying to export and a screenshot of the export dialog settings you are using I can check whether it works in my test setups.

Thank you!

I am trying to export the attached two files, for Left and Right speakers, into three sets of wav, 1 mono left, 1 mono right, and 1 stereo left & right, with the attached options, tick boxes and samples...

Apologies, sent the L-Inverted selection box twice as you may have noticed. Just substitute L for R in that mono box. Thanks!

Thank you, I appreciate your kind support.

Two ways to find files with MacOS... https://osxdaily.com/2021/06/21/how-find-files-mac/
and from the Terminal app try: sudo find / -name '*.wav' -print
If you know the full name of the file you are looking for substitute the * with the file name... Otherwise * will search for all .wav files...

@John Mulcahy thank you again very much for your kind and responsive support, which I appreciate very much. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling REW from my computer, and the export function works properly now.

I had upgraded from v5.20.9 to v5.20.13, without uninstalling 5.20.9, and this may have created the problem (but I do not know obviously).

Some folk have not been able to run the installer on Ventura, so good to hear that it worked for you and all is OK now.

Yes, I had problems initially. The installer seemed stuck. So I went to the prior version, which I could install without problems. Then I tried again with the latest version, and it worked, with some export issues.

So I uninstalled the latest version and installed it again. Now, all seem to be working fine.

@Apollo:
2 years ago, I had the same problem on macOS with the disappearing files or file dialogs – if this happens again, try to uncheck the option "use macOs file dialogs" in the setup-menu – if this is available in 5.20.13 (I'm still using 5.20.9). For me that helps – no trouble anymore.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I decided not to tick the "use macOS file dialogs" as it disables the preview panel, so I assume (but I don't know for sure) that this was not the problem in my particular situation.
