What acoustic problems/properties of a room or speaker lead to a longer filter and more latency? Is this something that can be worked on on a room to reduce latency as much as possible?
There are two types of latency: Filter latency and processing latency.
Filter latency: The distance from the start of the filter to the peak. Time domain correction and linear phase crossovers can add substantial layency here. Minimum phase filters/ minimum delay crossovers keep this latency to a minimum … inside what’s needed for lip sync.
Processing latency: Some convolver have latency that increases with filter lenge, and some times substantial. AL convolver has selectable latency down to zero.
