Guys I've had the Ultimate remote for a few years now and I have knowledge on how to use and program the devices activities and such but I am having a small problem that I can't seem to fix and thought maybe I could get help here. I currently added the Onkyo 805 receiver to use as an EXTERNAL amp with my Denon x4200 receiver. All the devices such as the TV, X4200, Directv box turn ON and OFF except for the Onkyo 805. I have tried remote to remote to learn the ON/OFF and nothing. I appreciate any input, Thank you!

That's strange one indeed.
I assume from your post that the original remote works. My first inclination was that harmony had the wrong IR code in their database but if you did the remote to remote learning and it still doesn't work that's a puzzle. Any chance the Onkyo is not in a good spot to see the IR command from the Harmony? Some older gear can be a bit more temperamental with IR strength and direction.

When I used the 805 in the past I had no issues with on/off using Harmony until now that it's sole use is external amp.I also went under Devices and pressed on/off power toggle and nothing.

That was going to be my next suggestion.

If the original remote still works then there can't be any inherent reason the Harmony won't. Also, thinking out loud here, if the original remote still works then it can't have to do with using the Onkyo as an amp only.

Looks like the Onkyo supports different remote code sets. Is it possible it got changed from the default of 1?
Did you ever use CEC or have it enabled? Could the Onkyo have actually been getting turned on by another HDMI connected device and not the Harmony as it appeared?

Yesterday I get home and the Onkyo turns on/off with Activities without any issues and same when I tried to turn it on/off under Devices. Then, come time to turn it off it wouldn't turn off even with the help feature and neither under Devices. It's strange indeed.

Doesn't the Ultimate have an RF capability? could it have accidentally have been set to RF instead of IR for the power toggle of the 805?

It does work with IR. What I find strange is how it works with the other components. If its the RF won't the other components also not work?
How do I check or change it from RF to IR in case it needs to be changed?

Its been a long time but I believe its in the help of the remote "remote assistance" or something like that.

I'll look into it thank you.

That's got to be maddening. You'd almost rather something just not work then sometimes and sometimes not.

Thank you for taking time in trying to figure this out for me. I have gone through all the steps from the link you provided and still. I don't know. Last night it powered on ok but at power off I had to go to the help button and had to press the NO button at least 10 times were it asks is the Onkyo receiver OFF before it automatically shut off. Yet this morning it came on ok and turned off ok. Maddening like you said!
