Retired guy here. Just starting to get involved in paying more serious attention to my home theater and glad to have found this resource. Looking forward to continuing my recent education! Started multiple conversations on AudioScienceReview.com which is what brought me here as many folks recommended using REW. Happily I took my first measurements already. I focused in on just the subwoofer range as my subs have detailed EQ control whereas my main system has only basic EQ ability given that it's heart is a Sony STR AZ5000ES, but my goal here is to learn how to use ASIO4ALL and test all 5 channels together. Below is my sub response after using PEQ1-3 on the SVS iPhone app. I'm sure there is much I can do to improve on this first attempt at using REW and clearly I need to do a full 20-20k run today as well, but I don't listen to music at all (except recently I used Tidal to test my new speakers - see my Mind Blown thread on ASR for more details :) ) hence my desire to learn how to use ASIO4ALL and include all 5 speakers rather than doing a Measurement of just L+R.

EDIT: Never mind. It seems to be in the right spot now. Not sure what I was seeing there briefly.

My apolgies! Somehow this is appearing in the Sticky threads. Can it be moved to the regular threads. Sorry again!

Welcome and Happy Retirement!

In case you haven't found it, there's a Some guides to REW and acoustic measurement thread that may help you get started and answer some of your questions.

I started with the Getting Started with REW document mentioned in the tread. At the time it was first written, ASIO4ALL was used for multi channel, but as you've already learned, it has been replaced by selecting the EXCL Output Device in Preferences. One of the last updates in that doc discusses the ASIO4ALL EXCL change, and is shown in the example below (from page 42 in the document). Also, REW has been rewritten but the doc hasn't been updated, so screenshots may look different than your REW version, but the basic setup steps and REW information in the doc is still useful.

Welcome to AVNirvana... glad to have you with us.

Thanks guys! I'm just starting to read the link above, but I was eager to try and see if I could find the setting for adding channels and I did.

Took a preliminary look and this is what I got. I'm certain I have much to learn to make this more meaningful, but it looks pretty good as a start, no?

Also selecting EXCL does bring up all the channels, but there is still nothing to allow measuring 5 channels at once. Is that correct. One basically should test each individual speaker response?

:T

If measurements are taken with a timing reference then they can be combined using REW’s trace arithmetic and the result will be identical to a measurement.
Another way might be if the processor has a mono mode.

Welcome to the forum!

I would post this up in the REW Support Forum and you'll get a lot of help there. :T
