How to setup for general room correction

I was looking to purchase ik multimedia arc 3 for room correction, the steps look very easy and straightforward. But I want to try a free alternative. With rew the interface looks very busy and complex.
If I want to correct an audio file I measured from my listening position. How do I go about getting things going.

REW has a lot of audio and acoustic measurement features. It can make parametric EQ filter suggestions based on response measurements, but they have to be applied by another application or equaliser. If you are looking to make system measurements with a view to changing/optimising the speaker and listening positions or seeing what effect treatments have, in addition to looking at EQ options, it is worth learning how to make and interpret measurements. If you don't want to change anything else self-contained solutions like ARC or Dirac are probably better options. For the DIY route there are links to various guides in this post.
