I really liked Interstellar.

Alright. Color me HUGELY disappointed.

Interstellar is getting the 4K HDR treatment and they aren't going to give it a matching Dolby Atmos track?

:gah::gah::gah::gah::gah::gah:

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed. That one was screaming for it.

I think I had read Christopher Nolan is super picky about altering his films, too. Have you heard anything along those lines?

I'm actually surprised that any of these films are coming out with HDR. They weren't shot with that in mind.

yeah, I've heard the same thing.

well, with HDR it's not so much that it's "shot" a specific way, but that it's re color graded when they do so.

I understand... but I had a conversation with a Hollywood color specialist/advisor, and he talked fairly open about the fact that HDR really only hits its stride when director's eye takes it into account when lining up how a shot will look (or something to that effect)

yeah, it's highly controversial... some consider it revisionist, some don't... I'm not familiar enough with the process to give anything more than an educated guess sadly

I'll hop into that boat with you.

It doesn't make sense though. If a film is mastered to look a certain way, it's a bit odd to go back and try to overlay a new vision for various shots/scenes.

Anyhow, all a moot point. I REALLY wanted to have this film get an audio re-encode! Such a bummer.
