Good morning.

Last weekend I downloaded flexASIO to use in REW because I was having some issues with it and I read to try flex instead.

I downloaded and all went well. I decided to run some more measurements this morning and when I opened REW preferences, I wasn't given the full options of output channels. (Turns out my Denon was set to stereo, so I think that WAS my issue). Before I figured that out I was messing with things (I am not on the same level with my computer skills as most of you), and I switched from WASAPI to DIRECT and now it won't let me select flexASIO. I get a pop-up stating "Unable to open driver due to: Unable to find a PortAudio device named 'external Mic within specified backend.

So now I can't even get to the flexASIO control panel to switch back to WASAPI. I've updated REW to the newest version. And I still can't get to the control panel. I can't figure out how to Uninstall flexASIO either.

Anyone have any tips on how to get back to flexASIO in REW? Because I'm pretty sure I figured out my initial problem. Thanks in advance.

In your home folder (C:\Users\<your username>) delete the file FlexASIO.toml then start REW.

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a shot. Just as soon as I figure out why windows suddenly isn't recognizing my umik1. I just had an issue with my miniDSP, and after 2 hours I finally got that sorted, but then I no longer can find my umik. I swear this is the most frustrating hobby I've ever had. Lol.

Again, thanks for the help. Hopefully I get that far before I smash this laptop. Lol

I had some issues with FlexASIO as well. Eventually I found FlexASIO_GUI at github that provides a better user interface to modifying FlexASIO.toml. My one complaint that I noted there is that when it starts, it doesn't read the toml file, the options are always the default.

I found that if the user selects "Load from", then selects the default file or another saved file, it then displays the settings properly. Just clicking "Load from", then immediately clicking the "Open" button the settings are updated accordingly as it opens the default FlexASIO.toml file.
