(August 20, 2024) Fresh on the heels of releasing its more affordable Strato V storage/player combo device, the folks at Kaleidescape have unleashed their largest and most expensive server to date. Priced at a wallet-terrorizing $64,995, the all-new Terra Prime SSD 123TB movie server is best fit for the most extreme of budgets.

“Kaleidescape’s new Terra Prime SSD 123TB is intended for massive movie collections in large multi-room installations,” said Tayloe Stansbury, chairman & CEO of Kaleidescape. “When combined with our new Strato V movie player, customers can unlock the full potential of the Kaleidescape platform with reference-quality 4K Dolby Vision playback and lossless audio.”

Carrying the SSD designation, this model uses a solid-state storage platform that's fast, quiet, and energy efficient. It's outfitted with 2.5 gigabit Ethernet, which means it can download 4K Dolby Atmos Kaleidescape films in as little as four minutes (connection dependent, of course). And its output muscle can serve up to 25 simultaneous playback zones, allowing you, your spouse, and – possibly – your entire extended family to enjoy unique content at the same time. According to Kaleidescape, this particular model is "ideal for state-of-the-art installations, yachts, and commercial theaters."

Kaleidescape’s server line now comprises 123TB, 31TB, and 8TB solid state options, holding approximately 2,000, 500, or 125 Kaleidescape 4K movies, respectively. For situations where you need nearly endless storage, up to four 123TB servers can be combined into a single system for a capacity of 492TB. That's enough to hold every 4K and HD movie in the Kaleidescape store.

Yes, one can dream.

Kaleidescape is the world’s only digital movie provider with lossless audio and full reference video quality. Its movie store offers thousands of 4K and HD titles, including films, TV series, and concerts, delivering an unparalleled user experience. Movies are available with lossless multichannel and object-based audio, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. More recently, Kaleidescape began offering movies in Dolby Vision. You'll need its new Strato V to take advantage of that.

It’s crazy big… but, we all know this won’t look quite as big in about 10 years. I’m sure we’ll be talking about servers capable of holding 10x more data.

Wouldn’t you love to see the kind of Yatch this would match with?
