(April 9, 2024) Earlier this year, Klipsch revealed a soundbar-based audio system co-developed with Onkyo as a "Powered by Onkyo" product. At its heart, the system presents two distinct soundbar choices: the Flexus Core 100 ($349) and the Flexus Core 200 ($499). The beefed-up Core 200 is a 44" wide, 3.1.2 channel speaker featuring four 2.25" aluminum drivers, two 2.25" upfiring immersive drivers, and dual 4" built-in woofers. It's also carries a dedicated horn-loaded tweeter for vocal clarity. The 28" wide Core 100 steps-down output with a stereo array of dual 2.25" drivers and two 4" low-end woofers.
Both models have HDMI for access to eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel and 8K video) and Bluetooth connectivity. They also house onboard Dolby Atmos decoding and both optical and USB-C connection options.
Complementing the soundbars are two standalone wireless speaker options: the traditional satellite speaker-styled Surround 100 ($249) and the low-end capable Sub 100 ($299). Each Surround 100 is independently powered, which means no long wires to stretch across a room, and carries a 3-inch full-range driver. Meanwhile, the Sub 100 features an impressive 10" woofer, which suggests it will have a relatively notable in-room impact in the bass region. Sealed and sized to fit in tight spaces, the Sub 100's most impressive feature is its ability to pair with a second sub to tackle bass in larger rooms.
Klipsch’s Transport technology makes setting up and connecting the Flexus family of products across multiple channels easy with a pre-paired USB transmitter, included with Flexus surrounds and Flexus subwoofers. This allows the Flexus Core models to quickly connect and expand the system by eliminating complex configuration steps. The addition of the Klipsch Connect Plus app (iOS and Android) provides one-tap access to input selection, EQ presets, firmware and feature updates, and more.
