This newly inked agreement gives Oasys members direct access to Magnetar’s UDP800 and UDP900 players—two models that have gained the attention of audiophiles and videophiles alike. Each unit offers a slightly different take on universal disc playback, but both are engineered with the same goal: to deliver uncompromised fidelity for a broad range of formats, from 4K UHD Blu-ray to SACD and networked media.
At $1,599, the UDP800 is Magnetar’s more affordable option, but still features a robust metal chassis and support for SACD, DVD-Audio, and high-bitrate media playback via USB or network storage. The UDP800 is built for serious playback but leans on shared digital power supplies and board architecture to keep pricing in check.
The $2,999 UDP900, on the other hand, is built for the uncompromising user. Its architecture builds on the UDP800’s foundation with a newly designed six-layer PCB, enhanced isolation, and more refined audio circuitry. It features dual DACs—ESS9038PRO for stereo and ESS9028PRO for multichannel—plus XLR outputs, toroidal transformer-based analog power, and an internally shielded chassis. The UDP900 also steps up to a dual-layer structure with increased physical isolation between components to minimize vibration and electrical noise.
Both models are housed in rigid aluminum alloy enclosures and support a wide array of formats via physical discs and local storage. Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1 with full 48Gbps capacity, coaxial and optical digital outputs, and robust USB 3.0 input for local files. Whether it’s a disc-heavy media room or a network-based listening setup, the UDP800 and UDP900 are versatile enough to serve as digital hubs.
For Magnetar, the partnership with Oasys is a logical step. As Oasys provides integrators with access to automation, A/V distribution, lighting, and accessories from a curated catalog of respected brands, Magnetar’s arrival fills a notable gap in the premium disc player category.
