(August 20, 2020) Marantz’s latest audio entries take aim at enthusiasts looking to boost their 2-channel capabilities. Priced at a modest $599 (PM6007 Integrated Amplifier) and $449 (CD6007 CD player), this new amp and CD player duo represents excellent value for budget-minded enthusiasts.
Focused squarely on stereo performance, the PM6007 is a 2-channel integrated amp designed to play nicely with both digital and analog sources. This is achieved using five analog (including MM phono), one coaxial, and two optical digital inputs, along with a fully shielded AK4490 digital to analog converter capable of up to 192kHz/24bit resolution. Power-wise, the PM6007 relies upon a Toroidal transformer and large power supply caps to deliver 45 watts per channel of clean power (8 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz). Output capacity is further aided by an onboard subwoofer out for enthusiasts looking to boost deep-bass performance.
Not shying away from a medium that’s hit rough times, Marantz’s new CD6007 CD player represents a good balance of price and performance. The company says premium grade components include a low-noise power supply, Shottky Barrier Diodes, and extra-large capacitors, along with the same AK4490 DAC found in the PM6007. And internal processing allows for both disc and USB playback of WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, HD, ALAC, AIFF, and DSD files.
The CD60007's analog output is driven by Marantz’s HDMA-SA2 low-level amp, ultimately terminating to dual gold-plated outputs. Owners can also enjoy a favorite pair of headphones by tapping the player’s internal headphone amp. Functional controls for stereo and headphones playback are located on the front panel as well as an included remote.
