Multiple minidsp question

I have a two channel system with two subwoffer . Currently i use a minidsp 22D between my cd transport and dac . It has dirac and previously i only did a Dirac measurment . However i think my headroom is small ( no clipping but my preamp volume control is typically 36-37 out of 40 to reach 75 db . So i was thinking about adding the minidsp 2x4hd and calibrate the subs set crossovers and after correction using the ddrc22d and dirac to optimize everything hoping that with a better sub setup dirac needs fewer changes affecting headroom .
Is this sound likea good approach ? Is there a better one ? I was thinking maybe a minidsp flex might be a better option keeping it simpler but i have a really good DAC and i am not sure that would defeat the purpose to have one if i will do a ad/da conversion again in the flex

Perhaps I don’t understand your question, but I believe Dirac uses a fixed amount of headroom, 10dB. I do not believe it adjusts headroom taken based on need, i.e. max filter gain.
