Hi,
I need to measure the noise floor level in a room. I have been using REW together with UMIK 1 for few years and have got excellent results for in the calibration side. However, when measuring the noise floor in a room (NC value), I cannot measure below 40 dBC due to the USB mic limitation. Has anyone out there use REW with a suitable mic to measure low noise floor going down to about NC20? I was tole the UMIK-2 can measure lower. Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this.

Thanks.

There is a post on the UMIK-1 equivalent input noise here that puts it around 29 dB(A), the UMIK-2 spec is 20 dB(A). For lower noise you would need a specialist analog low noise mic with a correspondingly low noise preamplifier.
