Alright, you audiophiles, time to go old school and I mean old school..

according to azcentral,

"Flooding that damaged a Mayer antiques museum in July has forced the owner to auction off more than 30,000 of the museum's items and shut the attraction."

"Kenneth Seo, the owner of Smitty's Antiques Museum in Mayer, will auction items that include his personal collection of old phonographs, gas pumps and reel-to-reel tape recorders."

"EJ's has auctions every Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. and a viewing period on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 5880 W. Bell Road, Glendale.

Visit ejsauction.com for more information."

Taking it back old school!!!

:)

Any takers???

Not here. I have a record player and reel to reel now. And I do not need any more furniture..except speakers....lolololol

I wonder if these would be worth getting as collection items? Can see in few years, at antique road show on PBS, price jumps due to limited quantity .. :)

Well if the wood got wet you might want to look at them close. After hurricane Irene came thru a small cabinet dried out and all the legs (turnings) popped apart here. Where they were once round, they are now flat. YMMV

That is a good point. Best to inspect at the auction.. :)

Those are some cool looking oldies there... not that I would care for any, but they have that cool factor look to them.

Yeah, plus not many folks have them and would be good conversation pieces that is for sure. :)

I have my grandfathers floor-standing phonograph player and floor-standing radio as well as an early Edison wax cylinder player.
I would love to get one of those table top phonographs.

Wow.. Can you take a picture and post? That is so cool!

:)

Awe man! I would love to get a couple items from there but given Im up here its far to complicated to go down and look. People who live close would be foolish not to at least look and see if any of it its worth it. I would love a reel to reel or one of those old table top players.

Here are the Gramophone and Edison wax cylinder player. I don't have a pic of the radio, I will take one this afternoon.

Very nice. Do they still work? How does it sound if they still work. Thanks for sharing. :)

They all still work, although there are not a lot of AM radio sources these days.
The phonograph is surprisingly loud considering it only has a needle vibrating a diaphragm and then the horn to amplify it.The sound is like you hear on a lot of movies portraying similar devices.

Nice to hear they all work. Wow, very impressive. Thanks for sharing. :)
