(December 19, 2024) GoldenEar Technology, a celebrated name in high-performance audio, is entering a new phase as it joins the PML Sound International portfolio. Known for its iconic loudspeakers, like the heralded Triton Reference flagship tower, GoldenEar has been a hallmark of premium sound innovation since its inception. This acquisition, effective January 1, 2025, positions GoldenEar under the umbrella of PML Sound International, which also houses brands like Paradigm, Anthem, and MartinLogan.
This latest development comes some four years after GoldenEar's 2020 sale to The Quest Group, a transition that expanded the brand’s global reach and introduced new innovations like the award-winning T66 loudspeaker. Under Quest’s ownership, GoldenEar appeared to flourish, but the transition to PML suggests a new chapter focused on integrating GoldenEar’s unique capabilities into a broader ecosystem of premium audio products. Starting in January, the company will operate as GoldenEar Studio Inc., taking advantage of PML’s advanced engineering resources and manufacturing expertise.
During the transition, GoldenEar operations will temporarily pause from January 1 through January 31, 2025, with normal activities resuming on February 3. Customers can rest assured that warranties and service support will remain intact throughout this period, ensuring continuity for existing and future GoldenEar users.
While surprising, this late-year move marks a significant moment in the brand’s evolution and reinforces its place within the high-end audio market. With the T66 collecting widespread praise, we're just months away from the expected release of the T44 loudspeaker, which we covered at CEDIA 2024. It will be interesting to see if PLM continues to shrink GoldenEar's catalog of offerings, as the T66 and T44 were designed to be heir apparent to several different models in GoldenEar's range.
