Hi guys,
i am using a Apollo Thunderbolt plus the Sonarwoors Mic with its calibration File. When i star editing in preferences and test the Volume all is fine.
I put it to -12bd as is the output of rew.BTW is it better to turn up the Pre Amp or the Speaker level to reach that -12db?

Then i want to start measuring but it says i have to calibrate SPL meter first. When i try to do that it says my input is way too low. Actually the SPL Meter does not do much and shows negative values....
But i had a good input in the first place with -12db. Hope anyone can help me here. Thanks and best regards
Nikolaus

Since you do not have a USB mic, SPL calibration will require an outboard meter.

thanks a lot for the answer! Sorry that i am asking this newbie questions but is a SPL calibration necessery for the room calibration? When is skip the SPL calibration REW tells me my input level is too low. How come? I made the adjustment for the mic input in first step right? Would it be simpler to buy a Room Analyzer Kit for example? is ths as accurate as REW?
Thanks a lot
Nik

Sure, you can measure without the SPL calibration. Just play the test signal through your system at a comfortable volume while doing the calibration process, and then enter something like “75 dB” in the “SPL Reading Calibration” box.

Could you post some screenshots of what you are seeing? Perhaps a screenshot of REW's SPL meter while playing a speaker cal pink noise signal on the REW signal generator, and also a screenshot of the REW soundcard preferences.
