(September 3, 2020) Canada-based PSB Speakers has officially unleashed a new stable of high-performance wall mount speakers. Priced from $2,499 each (PWM3) to $1,499 each (PWM2) and $799 each (PWM1), PSB’s three new models can be used in horizontal and vertical orientations for nearly any channel in a system.
Available in Satin White and Satin Black finishes, the PWM series delivers PSB’s trademark sound without taking up valuable floor space. The speakers’ slim profiles are only 3.5” deep and 6.5” wide, with heights varying between 48” (PWM3) to 28” (PWM1). Styling is complemented by removable magnetic cloth grilles that allow the speakers to show-off their striking driver arrays and smooth cabinet surfaces.
Voiced by founder and chief designer, Paul Barton, the speakers feature newly developed 1” titanium dome tweeters with neodymium magnets and ferrofluid cooling. Additionally, each driver carries dual layer voice coils and carbon fiber cones. According to PSB, the crossover point between tweeter and woofers is seamlessly navigated by a custom waveguide that’s mounted on the front of the tweeter.
The flagship speaker of the series houses four 4” woofers, two 3” midrange drivers, and a single 1” tweeter that make for an overall frequency response of 60Hz to 35kHz. Performance specs for the PWM1 and PMW2 see bass floors rise to 70Hz. If that low-end isn’t beefy enough, PSB does offer several in-wall subwoofer options.
The speakers are fairly easy to drive, with the PMW2 and PMW3 carrying a sensitivity of 89dB in a typical listening room, while the PWM1 is slightly more power-hungry (87dB).
“Following up on our long-time success of the PSB W1 on-wall, the PWM Series was conceived based on direct feedback we have received from the CI marketplace”, commented Joe de Jesus, Lenbrook’s Product Manager for Custom Installation. “Whether as part of a complete on wall system, a basic TV application or as an on-wall center channel solution for floor standing speakers; we believe the PWM models will exceed expectations in every way. These three PWM models have been created solely with the professional installer and their clients, in mind”.
