When making a .cal file, it is required to loop the output back into the input. I'm curious as to how variation in the output and input responses are distinguished in the file when used for response measurements. Obviously the variations in the output are needed for correction but, how are the input variation dealt with?

Input and output effects cannot be distinguished in the loopback measurement, the cal file compensates for both.

So, .cal files are only as accurate as the input response of the audio interface. Correct?

Well, if ,as you say, "Input and output effects cannot be distinguished" then how does the input variances not effect the .cal file?

Never mind. I found some other software to do what I need.
