(April 13, 2021) The HARMAN engineering labs in Northridge, California, have produced yet another gorgeous-looking retro-JBL speaker. The all-new 4309 Studio Monitor sports classic appointments, like an eye-catching blue baffle, backed by modern performance capabilities.
Having already received a 2021 Red Dot Design Award, the 4309 delivers compact performance modeled after JBL’s recently released 4349 12-inch two-way monitor loudspeakers. The 4309 shrinks the 4349’s woofer to 6.5-inches while driving upper frequencies with a 2410H 1-inch compression driver mated to a High-Definition Imaging horn (42 Hz -30 kHz, 4 ohms, 87 dB sensitivity). Its overall size (16.5” H x 10.25” W x 9” D, 24.2-lbs) remains manageable, even with a recommended stand height of 24-inches.
“Our Studio Monitor series of high-performance loudspeakers are some of our most popular models globally as there simply isn’t anything else like them,” said Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN Luxury Audio. “The combination of the heritage pro-style aesthetics and state-of-the-art acoustic technologies packaged together in the small form factor of the 4309 results in a fantastic loudspeaker discerning listeners will love.”
The speaker’s cabinet is offered in walnut and black walnut furniture-grade satin wood veneers. Those finishes are complemented by a blue (walnut) or black (black walnut) cloth grille. Connectivity-wise, dual sets of gold-plated binding posts accept single-ended or bi-wire/bi-amplified configurations.
Priced at $2,000 per pair, JBL says the 4309 Studio Monitor will begin shipping in June.
