I am new to this forum. I posted this same message this past week end but I must have messed something up because it does not show up in the normal threads. I am reposting it

I installed REV 5.20.4 on a System 76 laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS. REV seems to work fine using the internal laptop mic and speakers for an initial test. I did have to check the box for openGL during install to get the waterfall view to work correctly. The problem I have is if I plug in a minidsp UMIK-1 while REV is open or have the mic plugged in when I start REV, REV will start but after a few seconds the window closes suddenly without me doing anything to the keyboard or mouse.

Here is what i see when I start REV from the terminal window.

mike@system76-pc:~/Documents/Audio/REW Install files$ roomeqwizard
OpenGL pipeline enabled for default config on screen 0

The UMIK-1 seems to be recognized by the OS properly. Here is what I see with dmesg.. I see the serial number is zero but I dont know if that matters. The mic does work using Audacity on the same computer.

I used the uninstall script to remove REV and all associated files. I then reinstalled REV 5.20.4 but nothing changed. I think once I got a popup that asked if I want to use the UMIK-1 mic but when I hit YES nothing happened... Then it crashed. I searched the forums but dont see much on crashes. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. REV seems to be an amazing jewel of a program. I cannot wait to use it.

Audacity uses ALSA, therefore it works. If you choose a pulseaudio input in REW that is triggering this bug. Try to choose an ALSA device in REW, that may fix it. Anyway, pulseaudio is not optimum choice for REW, as it has always automatic functions like resampling, which you may like in desktop applications, but not for measurements.
