I am using a Mint 20.3 distribution of Linux and I have read pretty much all Linux installation tips, installed Java 8, tried again, did a bunch of console commands, but none of it helped.

I know keeping this project (and not to mention launching it in the first place) is a daunting task, but could some kind Linux-savvy soul fix that installer so that those of us who are focused on other subjects (like designing analog audio gear) can just install REW with a click? Or at least a fool-proof set of steps to do it? I can't afford another Mac for our workshop and I hate Windows for all the usually suspected reasons.

Thanks for any help. (the linux installer alarm message screenshot below)

Simply make the script executable in a terminal session:

chmod u+x /home/cyber/Downloads/REW_linux_5_20_9.sh

or

chmod +x /home/cyber/Downloads/REW_linux_5_20_9.sh

Of course you know that the MacOS is AT&T Sys V plus Berkeley enhancements on a Mach Mirco Kernel... AKA Unix... All dressed up with a pretty GUI... There is also Guest Operating Systems like UniBeast by tonymacx86 that will allow you to run the MacOS on most Intel PC hardware... Kind of like Bootcamp (Windows on Mac) in reverse...

Thanks everyone for your help, because I was able to install REW on my Mint 20.3 OS!
I simply shanged the directory by typing in cd Downloads into the Terminal and then following up by the 2 commands as suggested in the help file: chmod 777 REW_linux_5_20_9.sh and then sudo ./REW_linux_5_20_9.sh
The installer opened beautifully and installed flawlessly.
I yet have to check if the program functionality is 100% there but it looks good at the first sight.
Thanks again,

(strangely, the forum software prevented me from quoting John's reply)

Thanks for the advice to install MacOS un this hardware. However I already have a Hackintosh computer at home running Catalina. But this Linux machine is in our workshop and is AMD Ryzen based. Very difficult to install MacOS on it or at least I don't have the time to endlessly fiddle with it.

Thanks! I already installed it successfully but it's always good to have "extra aces in the sleeve" :)
