REW on rpi4 raspbian = Black screen

Hi. I have a rpi4, an allo boss2 dac and a umik-1 and I want to try out rew and camilla dsp. I am quite the noob wrt linux. So far I managed to get my dac working in raspbian, and also installed java and rew. But when I launch rew the program window turns all black. Few of the buttons show up randomly but turn black again. How can I troubleshoot this issue?

Update: Did a fresh setup of the os and rew is working. Now to start reading up on how to take measurements, and how to make use of Camilla dsp.
