Hi

Using a Sonar Works mic with calibration file, why does REW ask for SPL calibration?

Lea

REW will always ask for SPL calibration unless you have a USB mic that has a calibration file with a sensitivity entry. If you need graphs that show accurate SPL figures, you will need an SPL meter for the SPL calibration. If that doesn’t matter, just enter 75 dB into the calibration window and you’re good to go.

Regards,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne, that's really useful. Using non-USB so will enter 75 dB, perfect, cheers.

If you've calibrated the SPL meter in REW with a non-USB mike and an SPL calibrator, REW will hold that setting until the next time you change it. Thanks to John for adding that feature, which keeps us from having to re-calibrate every time we launch the application.
