REW won't initalise

REW used to work on my HP laptop. I downloaded version 5.18 and it starts to initialise and then just disappears. I removed that version and went back to 5.17 and that now has the same problem. I don't really know when this started. I am on the current version of Windows 10. I looked in Event Manager but nothing shows up and I don't see any problems with properties. Any ideas on what to try next?

Use the latest beta version - I'm guessing you have the Creators update version of Windows 10, that exposed a bug in the Java Virtual Machine that caused it to crash, the beta version has a workaround.
