Hello dear John.

First of all, on behalf of all the poor people related to audio, I would like to thank you for your dedication. rew software has helped many people, but recently I found out that there are level related errors in rew software, please pay attention to it.

I used multiple software to verify that rew level analysis and spectrum analysis have errors, I'm not into math so I don't understand. My guess: rew first treats the input signal as a sine wave, then does the power sum, then calculates the rms value, then +3dB to get the sine wave peak value. This calculation does not take into account the peak factor of the random signal (9 to 15dB), which is 3dB for a sine wave.

Please refer to the View preferences and the Full scale sine rms is 0 dBFS option: Full scale sine rms is 0 dBFS determines whether the rms level of a full scale sine wave is show as 0 dBFS or -3.01 dBFS. If this option is selected the rms level may be greater than 0 dBFS for some signal types, for example, a full scale square wave would have an rms level of +3.01 dBFS.

This option is selected by default per the Audio Engineering Society conventions.
