(April 16, 2025) SilentPower, a UK-based sister brand of iFi audio, has introduced a new networking solution aimed squarely at AV purists and professional integrators: the OMNI LAN. Priced at $799 and available now through silentpower.tech, this optically isolated network switch isn’t designed for casual web traffic—it’s engineered to serve as a high-precision foundation for audio and video systems that demand ultra-clean signal delivery and timing stability.

Modern network switches are all about speed, but for high-performance home theater and hi-fi systems, SilentPower argues that those same switches can be a silent saboteur—introducing noise, jitter, and electrical interference that trickles through to DACs, streamers, and other sensitive components.

OMNI LAN seeks to fix that at the source.

The most notable feature? Internal optical isolation. The OMNI LAN converts electrical Ethernet signals into light, transmitting them across an internal optical path to remove the kind of electrical noise that traditional galvanic isolation (based on transformers) can miss—especially at high frequencies. This approach provides a clean electrical break between input and output and forms the foundation for OMNI LAN’s three-stage isolation architecture.

The switch includes 13 ports in total: 9 “Standard” ports with single-stage galvanic isolation for devices like routers or NAS drives, and 4 “Ultra-Pure” ports with three-stage isolation—including the internal optical link—meant for your most sensitive gear, such as DACs, streamers, or receivers.

Precision timing is another area of focus. The OMNI LAN includes a femto-level internal clock and SilentPower’s proprietary GMT (Global Master Timing) system to reduce jitter. It can even function as a master clock in a larger system, thanks to dedicated clock input and output ports—an increasingly interesting feature for audiophiles chasing perfect sync across digital gear.

The front of the unit features a full-color TFT display with real-time monitoring of data rates per port, plus clock sync and grounding mode controls. SilentPower’s iFi Nexis app extends this functionality to a mobile device, letting users manage traffic, grounding schemes, and firmware updates from anywhere on the network.

Speaking of grounding, the OMNI LAN gives users three selectable grounding modes:
  • DC-RF: Both DC and RF grounds are connected.
  • RF: Only the RF ground is connected.
  • ISO: No grounding connection at all—fully floating.

A rack-mount kit is available for professional installations, including home theaters and server rooms. The kit supports front or rear mounting for one or two OMNI units and enables a 24-port setup when two switches are combined.

While the debate over audible or visible gains from network tweaks is ongoing, SilentPower makes no sweeping claims. Instead, the company has focused on measurables: electrical noise rejection, jitter reduction, and clean integration into high-performance AV systems. So, if this reads as agreeable to your eyes, then the OMNI LAN offers you yet one more level of quality control and a final link in the signal chain.

The SilentPower OMNI LAN is shipping now at $799. For more details or to purchase, visit silentpower.tech.
