We decided to upgrade our sunroom system with a new receiver, inside and outdoor speakers, and a new component rack.

Thanks to Robert at Value Electronics for a discount on the Denon X1800H that has the HEOS Built-In we were looking for and the Zone 2 to have separate control over our outdoor speakers.

Thanks to AJ at Soundfield for the speakers he custom-built for us, which were designed for low-volume listening, although they will crank to insane levels.

We got the outdoor speakers from Parts Express - Dayton Audio IO8XTW 8" Indoor/Outdoor 2-Way Speaker w/ Bass Radiator.

And the rack we got from Amazon - FITUEYES Design 4-Tier AV Media Stand.

Angie seems to be happy with the updates... 24-30 years with that old gear is a long time. Just think, she's been with this old fart for 40 years.

Im sure those 8" 2 way's with radiators can crank also. Are those custom speakers using planar tweeters? And how low was the crossover on those tweeters?

It's actually a 10" driver. I believe the planar driver is handling down to about 500Hz or so, but @AJ Soundfield can confirm.

Well... actually, I do have an office and an AV test room. I forgot about my office thread... just posted a pic of the desktop speakers I got for that room. It's more of what we call a study, but still an office too.

Small desktop computer speakers that really sound good for their size?

Is there such a thing? I need something no more than about 6" in width and depth... height is not a concern. I prefer no subwoofer for this setup. Audioengine HD4 might work... any other suggestions?

Sorry... got confused and forgot about the outdoor speakers having passive radiators, and the fact you probably wouldn't know that the speakers AJ custom-built for me have passive radiators on the rear.

Yes... the outdoor speakers are very capable of some loud tunes if you wanted to party down with them... lol.

He was originally going to use a concentric driver setup (the back was the original front), but I think the drivers he needed were back-ordered, so he decided to use that cutout for a PR and cut new holes on the other side for this system. It didn't happen by original design, but more of a "let's make it work" design.

Most speakers need a "loudness" button on the receiver for super low volumes, but considering Angie listens 100% of the time at levels I can hardly hear, permanent EQ adjustments work just as well as a loudness button. With the previous 30-year-old speakers, she had zero bass in there... the bass drivers were shot ... not capable of making sound for the most part.

You sir, are correct. 10" hybrid woofer-subwoofer, crossed at 500hz to the 8" planar mid tweeter. Low tuned (EBS) passive radiator.
