(September 2, 2024) At CEDIA Expo 2024, Theory Audio Design is stepping into the landscape audio market with the introduction of their ic6-Bollard and iws12-Bollard loudspeakers. These new models bring the brand’s signature high-performance audio to outdoor environments, offering rich, detailed sound and robust bass.

The ic6-Bollard is a 6.5-inch full-range loudspeaker housed in an elegant, paintable stainless steel Bollard enclosure, delivering 360-degree coverage. This model builds on Theory’s popular ic6 Acoustic Core platform, known for its wide dispersion and exceptional low-frequency performance. Now adapted for the outdoors, the ic6-Bollard ensures consistent, high-quality sound across expansive areas.

The ic6 ceiling speaker was on demo at last year's CEDIA Expo, and the results were fantastic, leaving little doubt that the speaker's conversion to a landscape-friendly platform will be anything other than stellar.

The iws12-Bollard, featuring a 12-inch, 1,400-watt long-throw woofer, brings the deep, impactful bass to the outdoors. This design integrates Theory's impressively potent iws12-SPKR driver assembly into a durable Bollard housing, providing immersive low frequencies that enhance any outdoor audio setup. Much like ic6, the iws12-SPKR has been demoed in other form factors and its performance is excellent. We expect the iws12-Bollard to follow suit.

Paul Hales, CEO and Product Designer for Theory Audio Design, remarked on the significance of these new products: “The ic6 and iws12 are prime examples of our approach to audio design. We’ve created solutions that are not only high-performing but also versatile and easy to install, whether indoors or outdoors.”

Both models offer flexibility in installation, with the ic6-Bollard featuring a switch-selectable 70V/100V transformer that can be powered by Theory’s DLC-250.4d 4-channel loudspeaker controller. This setup can drive up to 64 speakers in Hi-Z mode from a single half-rack chassis, making it ideal for large, distributed outdoor audio systems.

Theory’s new landscape solutions will be available in late Q4 2024, with demos available at CEDIA Expo Booth 1943 and HPA Room 202. For more information, visit Theory Audio Design.
