(March 18, 2022) Theory Audio Design has unveiled a new in-ceiling loudspeaker solution, its first-ever in-ceiling loudspeaker design. The ic6 is capable of achieving a max output of 112dB (68Hz - 23kHz, -3dB) using a single 1.4" advanced polymer compression driver and a 6.5” carbon fiber low frequency driver. An onboard switch-selectable 70V/110V transformer can be driven direct by Theory’s forthcoming DLC-250.4 4-channel loudspeaker controllers. For commercial installations, the ic6 is UL-certified for fire signaling and for use in air-handling spaces.
The ic6 offers installers broad flexibility in both residential and commercial settings. Thanks to weather resistance and an available all-weather grille, the ic6 can be used outside. It can also be integrated into open-ceiling environments using optional pendant housing kits available in white or black. Of course, its in-ceiling design and paintable matte white or black grilles allow the speaker to be deployed as part of a surround sound or distributed audio system.
Size-wise, the ic6 is highly manageable, sporting a 9.2" diameter with a depth 8.6". Its overall weight is 12.5 lbs.
The ic6 is available now for $675/each US MSRP. Accessory Pendant Housings are $85/each (matte white) and $95/each (matte black with black ic6 grille), and the ic6 Pre-Construction Bracket is $62/pair. For more information, visit Theory Audio Design on the web.
