Torus Power Unveils the Armada Series, Will Demo Cutting-Edge Power Solutions at CEDIA 2024

(September 2, 2024) Torus Power is poised to make waves at CEDIA 2024 by launching its all-new Armada Series 2+ and Series 3 whole-house surge protectors. The company is also prepping to showcase established RM and AVR ELITE Series isolation transformers.

The new Armada Series of surge protectors, now exclusively distributed by Torus Power for the North American market, safeguard entire homes from power surges, including those triggered by lightning. Designed to attach directly to electrical panels, these compact units utilize patented Power Pressure technology to absorb electrical energy with nanosecond-level reactivity, ultimately preventing damaging surges from reaching sensitive electronic equipment. A unique, modular adaptive design allows both Armada 2+ and Armada 3+ versions to be installed as a single unit or set in a series to suit every application and electrical load. Taurus says they're rated for 120/240 volt and 120/208 volt installations, respectively.

The company will also use CEDIA 2024 to spotlight its flagship RM Series and AVR ELITE Series isolation transformers. The RM Series, which claims to improve audio and video performance by lowering the noise floor, will be paired with a 20-foot 4K DCI-compliant video wall demo with Quantum Media Systems. Meanwhile, the AVR ELITE Series will be showcased in Indy Audio Labs' high-end audio demo, providing stable voltage and protecting equipment from voltage fluctuations.

Kevin Main, President and COO of Torus Power, emphasized the importance of clean power in achieving optimal AV performance: "We are honored to be chosen by so many legendary CI companies at this year’s CEDIA Expo to ensure the success of their demos. The importance of clean, regulated power for the optimal performance of AV systems is clearly gaining traction within the systems integration community."

For more information, CEDIA Expo attendees are encouraged to visit Torus Power at Booth 4121, Room 207, and Sound Room 9.

It will be interesting to see the prices on the whole house system. We have had two lightning strikes here, and they have damaged a lot of equipment. I was able to get some of it repaired under warranty despite it not being the manufacturer's fault, but otherwise had to replace it or pay to have it fixed. I have several ZeroSurge devices on AV equipment, but it would be nice to have something covering all the other gadgets in the house.

I'm curious as well. I have two panels... one has a whole home surge protector on it. The other doesn't. If I remember correctly, the whole home suppressor wasn't very expensive (maybe $200)?

We have some sort of whole home suppression on our meter that came from the power company, but it didn't work on our last strike, which is probably why they stopped their warranty program.

We have a second 100 amp panel mounted in the attic for the dedicated AV room, but it feeds off of our main panel.

Ehhh... we also have three other meters: one at the cabin, one at the big barn, and one at the service pole at the beginning of the driveway. All of them are connected back to the house via fiber or Cat6a cabling. I'm not sure if fiber can carry a load before it burns up, but I know it can travel through Ethernet cables from one side of the house to the other and ruin some stuff... been there and done that.
