I got the Sony 98" on order with Robert at Value Electronics, and in the meantime, I need a stand for it. I got it cut and assembled today. The top is removable until I get the bottom part in the room and secured to the wall. I assembled and got the edge banding ironed on, ready for priming tomorrow, and probably the first coat of black paint. The second shelf is for the MartinLogan center channel speaker... it was not easy bending that plywood. :flex:

The entire unit will be mounted behind my center audio stand and amps, just below the current screen (which will be framed up and blocked off with canvas-painted Munsell N5 gray. The bottom shelf is removable, but there to help keep the wiring tidy and hold the switch and Intel NUC server.

Well, you don’t waste any time!

Looks great. Why not wall mount the TV?

I like small and easy projects.

I want to save my screen just in case I don't like it or decide for some reason to go back to a PJ.

This will allow easier upgrades. Every time we've swapped out the display in our great room, which is wall-mounted, it is always an ordeal. Picking it up and sitting it on a shelf will be much easier.

Just finished sanding and priming it.

Looks good, love the design and rear wire management!

Thanks Robert!

Got it primed, then one coat of flat black and the final coat of satin black... not quite dry yet, but you get the idea... it's black either way.

A flat black finish is always best for all surfaces that are located near the TV.

TV frames are black, and flat black that does not reflect much light and is the best color (or should I say lack of color) to have around all images and display types, digital illuminated displays and physical paper prints, like art work and photography.

Last time I had a cabinet in the room, I stuck this adhesive black velvet on top of it... kept it from being scratched up and marred up when wiping it down. I think I'll do the same here.

Love the look and it helps in may ways, including not reflecting the audio like hard surfaces do.

Check out black Duvetyn fabric. Even flat black velour fabric reflect light, Duvetyn absorbs the light and does not reflect any light. Point a bright flashlight close and directly into the Duvetyn fabric and the light disappears.

We use it as the ceiling and wall coverings in the premium home theaters we design and build for our clients.

Installed. Still need to apply the material to the top, and I'm working on the frame for the wall where the screen is, which will be completely covered.

I have two metal post for each corner that lines up with the corner of the recessed cutout area just to the side of each amp. With the weight of that set, I didn't want to risk any sagging on the corners over time.

Yes... the amps are covered up... didn't want to accidentally bump one while installing the stand.

Got the painted canvas frame mounted today... that thing was a lot heavier than I thought it would be, and I had to mallet it in the opening. I didn't account enough for the canvas thickness, but it worked out really well anyway. Very snug fit. Might have a VERY hard time getting it out... lol. Munsell N5 Gray.
