Ubuntu, XCB error: Crash after launch

Hello,
I just installed REW on a Ubuntu 22.04 box. The application launches but crashes shortly after with the following error messages in the console:

[xcb] Unknown sequence number while processing queue
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
[xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
java: ../../src/xcb_io.c:278: poll_for_event: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

This seems to be the exact same problem as in another thread (I cannot link it as I am too new to the forum) but it doesn't seem to have come to a solution.
Could anyone help with this?

IMO it's the xlib in ubuntu 22.04 - see https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/90247 (was being discussed here too https://www.avnirvana.com/threads/startup-crash-on-debian-linux.11539/ )

I reinstalled REW without OpenGL and now it seems to work.
