Using REW with USB output to external DAC

Hello
I am starting to use REW in those days and after extensive readings all around - the REW help and the Getting Started with REW: A Step-by-Step Guide (Rev 5.43, June 3, 2017). I came to the point to submit the following point of discussion. I am planning to use REW with an UMIK mic connected to the USB-in of my HTPC. The HTPC is connected to a Teac UD-503 USB Stereo DAC. The step-by-Step Guide extensively explain how to deal with a mch receiver connected to the HDMI output of the PC, which is not my case. I am looking for suggestion hints related to my case.

Shouldn't be much different, select the DAC as your output device and output in REW and that should be it.

Thank you. My concern was about REW being able to control the volume of the audio output

If Windows is able to control output volume REW should be, as long as in the REW soundcard preferences the output is selected (not left as default) and the box is ticked to allow REW to control it.
