I think I know the answer to this question but will ask anyway: after owning the oppo 105 and now the UDP-203, I notice I never use the HDMI-in ports in them. My Apple TV 4K is connected directly to the receiver, which feeds an Optoma UHD50. Question: Would connecting the Apple TV 4K to the Oppo instead create opportunities for better video processing within the Oppo? (I am running the latest beta)

Thanks!

Jose

I would think it would depend on which one has better processing... I know the OPPO has great processing, but I do not know how the Apple would compare.

I tried this - and left the Apple TV4K connected through the Oppo. The main advantage seems to be the configurability/optimization of what is being sent to the projector. Interestingly, the most marked change was the sound. The bass is a tad more pronounced through the Oppo, may have to do with the 'Auto' default setting for dynamic range (I turned it off after a while). I like the video quality I am able to get from the Apple TV with the Oppo making all the video processing decisions (auto).
